The world, Villmean, is a boundless land. Home to many diverse people, unique creatures, and powerful monsters. Hidden amongst the shadows of dense forests, buried beneath the sands of deceitful deserts, preserved within the ancient mountains, and hidden in the storms of the sea, are mysteries, power, and secrets that have eluded our comprehension throughout the ages. A few of these mysteries, however, have attracted war and conflict.
Some residents of Villmean possess the unique ability to wield great powers known as Soul Fragments. Soul Fragments were said to give the wielder powers that would reflect their soul. Those who wield such powers were renowned as Soul Gazers.
From the far reaches of Villmean, an army of undead and other monsters set out to conquer the world. Led by the Mistress of Death, Vanessa Tenebris, the army decimated countries and kingdoms as they traversed the treacherous land of Villmean. But her army did not go unchallenged. Twelve warriors — twelve former allies of Vanessa — rose to the occasion and gathered armies comparable to hers — known as the Holy Order. War broke out. Relationships crumbled, betrayal became the norm, and racial discrimination took to the streets; chaos had consumed the land.
Two armies clashed with fury and insurmountable powers. In the end, Vanessa had slain five of the twelve warriors, ending the first half of the great war. While humanity retreated, Vanessa continued to march forward, attaining more allies along her journey.
In fear of the outcome, humankind resorted to committing the most heinous acts; they had butchered. And enslaved many more. Claiming their actions as just and done within reason, the humans continued to slaughter millions for their delusions. Many species and races fell to extinction.
While others continued to be hunted and persecuted, the warbeast chose to fight against the Holy Order. Rallying under the guidance of king Magbu Graklak — the warbeast fought alongside Vanessa and her army.
The elves — masters of magic, manipulators of mana — however, chose to stay neutral.
Humanity, however, did not lose hope. Instead of being discouraged by the fearsome army, they gathered under the leadership of the five remaining warriors — now known as the Holy Kings. Once their army was reassembled, humanity — with its high amounts of powerful Soul Gazers — marched forward with courage and faith. After a long battle, Vanessa perished at the hands of Candice Tenebris, her sister. With Vanessa defeated, the army of undead turned to dust, leaving the warbeasts with no allies.
Unsatisfied with the victory, humanity waged war on the warbeast, claiming they must face the consequences of joining Vanessa. With no ally — and still recovering from the great war — the warbeasts fled to Mount Venxian, where they remained hidden: afraid of being hunted, persecuted, and sold off as slaves. After winning against the warbeasts, humanity targeted the elves next, claiming they can not be trusted, for humankind did not know where their allegiance laid. The elvish tribes tried to convince the human nation that they posed no threat. However, they did not listen to reason and resorted to violence.
After another decade of war and conflict, the three remaining residences of Villmean gathered and created the Resdigoàn-pact. With peace and prosperity ensured, the three races lived in harmony with no problems. That’s what had happened — or at least what was told over the century. Seduced by their lies, awed by their power, mystified by their false promises, the twelve heroes turned humanity against Vanessa and her hopes of unifying the world through peace.
